The National Beef tannery in St. Joseph receives hides only from National Beef® processing facilities. Hides are delivered washed, fleshed, trimmed, weight ranged and chilled from our Dodge City and Liberal processing plants, while our Brawley processing plant supplies fleshed trimmed and weight ranged brine cured hides. Consistency in hide supply sets the foundation for a consistent quality product. On arrival at the tannery, hides are weighed into batches and processed by loading into either wooden paddles or large rotating wooden drums.
Our unique and innovative system for Wet Blue processing ensures a consistent, world class, high quality end product. Our processing facility is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliant.
Our National Beef® processing facility in St. Joseph, Missouri is undergoing a total renovation. This includes installing new liming and tanning drums, lime fleshers, water systems, sammyers, splitters, and packing automation.
